Our R&D team picks the carrier oil, the antioxidant system and the shell, then iterates on prototypes until the fill is stable and the shell is compatible with it.
Encapsulation runs on qualified partner lines
Softgels are the one format we don't encapsulate on our own campus. They are produced with external partners we qualify and audit.
Testing, labeling and packing come back to Cedartown
Batches return to our campus for testing, labeling and packing, so the finished product ships from the same place as every other format you order.
Capsules, tablets, powders, gummies and liquids are made on our own campus in Cedartown, Georgia. Softgels are produced with qualified external partners.
What goes in a softgel
The format suits oil-based and fat-soluble actives, the ones that are hard to dose accurately or unpleasant to taste in another form.
Omega-3 fish oil, krill oil and algae omega. Vitamins A, D, E and K, including D3 and K2 as MK-7. CoQ10. MCT oil. Evening primrose, borage, flaxseed, black seed and garlic oil. Herbal extracts held in an oil matrix. Lutein and zeaxanthin. Astaxanthin. CLA.
What to expect
Lead time: 12 to 14 weeks
A custom softgel runs longer than our in-house formats. The timeline covers formula development, ingredient sourcing, encapsulation trials, stability testing and full production.
Samples before the run
We make pre-production samples on production-equivalent processes and test them for potency, appearance and performance before manufacturing begins.
Shelf life: typically 18 to 36 months
It depends on the fill, the shell, the packaging and how the product is stored. Stability testing sets the date, and nitrogen flushing, antioxidants and barrier packaging can extend it.
Sizes: 1 oval through 22 oblong
Size follows fill volume, ingredient viscosity and who the product is for. Tell us the formula and we'll recommend one.
